Judy Gilbert Levey

Judy Gilbert Levey ArtworkJudy Gilbert Levey is a local, plein air oil and studio painter. Judy began focusing on art full-time after working in an office and craving a career change. She became a member of the Foundry Gallery in Washington, D.C. in 1998. She is the newly elected President of the Edgemoor Citizens Association and a member of the Foundry Gallery. Judy's paintings capture local scenes, her personal travels and outdoor beauty. In recent years, Judy has studied with Walt Bartman and Christine LaFuente, and has also exhibited her work at Gallery B in downtown Bethesda. According to Judy, “Working en plein air with oil paints, I hold onto the yellow splash of sunlight or deep purple shade that caught my eye and at the same time provide an impressionistic view of the landscape, buildings and figures I see. I use studio time to reflect on the ideas that seem compelling outdoors and refine them to create greater intimacy and depth in my work.”
