Linda Bartley Button

Linda Bartley Button is a local artist who fashioned her own art curriculum, focusing on drawing and oil painting. She is currently experimenting with encaustic painting and monotypes. Linda's recent work discovers window dressing through drawings and oil paintings that feature the multiple realities of mannequins and the reflections of pedestrians, architecture and the outdoors. Her paintings are held in private collections across the country and have been exhibited at numerous shows.
Before making art a full-time career, Linda worked at the Library of Congress as a librarian for 18 years. Born in Zanesville, Ohio, Linda grew up moving between California, Venezuela, Peru and Colombia and eventually moved east to make Maryland home.

Judy Gilbert Levey

Judy Gilbert Levey is a local, plein air oil and studio painter. Judy began focusing on art full-time after working in an office and craving a career change. She became a member of the Foundry Gallery in Washington, D.C. in 1998. She is the newly elected President of the Edgemoor Citizens Association and a member of the Foundry Gallery. Judy's paintings capture local scenes, her personal travels and outdoor beauty. In recent years, Judy has studied with Walt Bartman and Christine LaFuente, and has also exhibited her work at Gallery B in downtown Bethesda. According to Judy, “Working en plein air with oil paints, I hold onto the yellow splash of sunlight or deep purple shade that caught my eye and at the same time provide an impressionistic view of the landscape, buildings and figures I see. I use studio time to reflect on the ideas that seem compelling outdoors and refine them to create greater intimacy and depth in my work.”

Shanthi Chandrasekar

Shanthi is a Maryland artist who has been drawing and painting since early childhood. Her interest in understanding different media has led her to experiment with sculpture, photography, printmaking and papermaking. She has also been trained in the traditional art form Tanjore Style painting. While many of her works are influenced by her Indian heritage, her true inspiration comes from the mystery and majesty of the world around her.

Shanthi's works have been displayed in a variety of locations through the Washington D.C. area, and she has won numerous awards. She won the Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist Award 2013 and 2016 for Works on Paper. She was awarded the Individual Artist grants from the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County, MD in 2009, 2013 and 2016. She also won the Maryland Traditions Master Apprentice Award to teach Kolam drawing in 2010.

Sarah Leibman

Sara Leibman is an artist and a lyricist in the greater Washington D.C. area. Primarily painting with oil and cold wax, she also sometimes incorporates different media, including collage and yupo paper into her work. Sara tells stories with her art -- about women's struggles to keep their identities, about children lost to gun violence, about the wreckage man can make of the earth, and about the beauty the earth still offers us. She has participated in many art shows and her paintings and collages are currently exhibited across the country in dozens of collections. Sara was the featured artist in October 2014 for the Women Caucus for Art, and has won several awards for her paintings.
